GCC Covid-19 update: 683 infections in UAE, Saudi registers 3,580 cases

The death toll in the UAE and Saudi Arabia has risen to 323 and 1,916 respectively

UAE
The Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 683 new infections and 440 recoveries on Sunday, July 5.

The newly diagnosed cases were detected as a result of more than 47,000 tests conducted across the country.

Since the outbreak late last year, as many as 51,540 in the UAE have contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, the total number of people who have overcome the infection after having contracted it, tally 40,297.

The ministry also confirmed one additional Covid-19-induced death, raising the fatality count to 323.

Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Health reported 3,580 new Covid-19 infections and 1980 recoveries across the kingdom.

Of the newly diagnosed cases, Riyadh posted the highest number (332) followed by Taif (271).

The ministry also reported 58 deaths, raising the fatality count to 1,916.

The total number of infections tally 209,509.

Oman
The Ministry of Health reported 1,072 new infections across the sultanate, of which 799 were Omanis.

The ministry also recorded 10 additional deaths, raising the death toll to 213.

Kuwait
Kuwait has reported 638 additional Covid-19 cases across the country, raising the total count to 49,941, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed three demises and 520 new recoveries.

The death toll stands at 368 while the recoveries tally 40,463.

Bahrain
The Ministry of Health tweeted that of 8,280 Covid-19 tests carried out on July 4, 447 new cases were detected. Meanwhile the total recoveries have increased to 23,959.
