Foggy conditions expected to persist across the UAE

Dense fog has severely impacted flight operations in Dubai

UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has warned that heavy fog will continue to persist across the country this week.

In its daily bulletin, NCMS said that the weather will be partly cloudy over some areas, especially after fog dissipates in the morning.

“The relative humidity is likely to increase during night and tomorrow early morning over most of coastal and internal areas, with a chance of fog/mist formation, especially towards north,” it added.

Heavy fog in the last week has caused several flight disruptions in the country.

On Sunday, flydubai said in a statement that dense fog had “severely disrupted” its operations at Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC) airports over the previous four days.

The airline had seen “a significant number of delays and cancellations to our schedules at a time when passenger numbers are high and alternative flights (and the availability of hotel accommodation) are very limited,” it said.

The airline also cautioned that morning fog could continue to impact its operations this week.

In its statement, NCMS also urged motorists to be careful while driving on the roads due to poor visibility.

According to its forecast, winds will be light to moderate on Monday while seas are not expected to be rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Similar weather, with the possibility of fog, is anticipated over the next two days.
