Home Transport Aviation flynas boosts UAE network, with flights to 3 more destinations The expansion increases the number of routes between Saudi Arabia and the UAE to nine, and daily flight frequencies to more than 20 by Kudakwashe Muzoriwa May 7, 2024 Image credit: flynas Saudi Arabia’s flynas has unveiled expansion plans for its UAE network, with operations to include Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport – along with the budget carrier’s existing flights to Dubai International Airport. With its operation from its main bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah, the low-cost airline said the expansion increases the number of routes between Saudi Arabia and the UAE to nine. It also increases flight frequencies to more than 20 daily flights. Bander Almohanna, managing director and CEO of flynas, said strengthening air connectivity between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, reflects the budget carrier’s commitment to moving forward with its growth and expansion plans. flynas connects over 70 domestic and international destinations through a network of more than 1,500 weekly flights. Last year, flynas carried 11 million passengers in 2023, growing more than 28 per cent compared to the previous year as it continues to expand to new markets, as the Saudi aviation sector is experiencing unprecedented growth on the back of the country’s economic prosperity. Earlier in April, the low-cost airline took delivery of the 50th aircraft out of an order of 120 A320neo aircraft from Airbus, which is valued at more than SAR32bn. The latest deliveries took flynas’ fleet size to more than 67 aircraft. The addition of the new aircraft is expected to support the carrier’s growth plans as it continues to expand its international routes and destinations network. Its fleet also has four A330 wide-body aircraft. Founded in 2007, the airline has carried more than 78 million passengers and plans to expand its reach to 165 destinations – domestically and internationally.
