Home Transport Aviation Flydubai to launch daily flights to Mogadishu With the launch of the new service, flydubai will expand its network in Africa to 11 destinations by Zainab Mansoor February 16, 2023 Flydubai will launch a daily service to Mogadishu, the Somalian capital, beginning March 9, 2023. The new service will operate daily between Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB) and Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ). Return business class fares from DXB to MGQ start from Dhs12,000, while economy class lite fares begin at Dhs3,000. Meanwhile, return business class fares from MGQ to DXB start from $3,500 and economy class lite fares at $800. Beginning March 9, flight FZ637 will depart Dubai 12pm and land at MCQ at 3.30pm. Return flight FZ638 will depart at 4.30pm and land at DXB at 10.25pm. The carrier will double the frequency of flights from June 1, making it the first airline to connect Somalia directly with Dubai and the UAE. “We continue to look for opportunities to grow our network in East Africa and open up underserved markets. This region has seen significant economic growth and development in recent years, our direct flights will further stimulate the economy and help create free flows of travel and trade,” said Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer at flydubai. With the start of flights to Mogadishu from March, flydubai will expand its network in Africa to 11 destinations. These include Addis Ababa, Alexandria, Asmara, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Khartoum, Juba and Zanzibar.
