PICS: Flooded roads, stranded cars amid massive UAE storm

A low pressure weather system that swept across the country on Tuesday caused widespread disruption

Large storms sparked off widespread flooding on roads across the UAE on Tuesday, leaving several cars stranded in cities such as Dubai.

Officials from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) also said that the storms brought with them the highest ever levels of rain recorded in the country since the beginning of its climate data records in 1949.

Schools remained closed for a second day on Wednesday as major cleanup efforts are underway. Citizens and residents have been urged by authorities to stay at home if they can.
