Fitbit says Sense smartwatch has sensor that can measure stress

Fitbit has unveiled three new wearables, one of which incorporates an electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor designed to measure stress.

An electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor on the new Fitbit Sense detects small electrical changes in the sweat level of your skin. The smartwatch manufacturer says measuring EDA responses can help users understand their body’s response to stressors and help manage stress.

The Fitbit Sense comes with the new PurePulse 2.0 technology which delivers on-device high and low heart rate notifications. With 24/7 continuous heart rate tracking, Fitbit Sense can detect and send a notification if your heart rate is outside of your thresholds.

Fitbit Sense also adds a new skin temperature sensor to detect changes to your wellbeing that may potentially be a sign of a fever, illness, or the start of a new menstrual phase.

The company is also launching Fitbit Versa 3, adding new health and fitness features to the company’s flagship smartwatch family. On-device GPS, in-app workout intensity map, PurePulse 2.0 technology, and Active Zone Minutes make it easier to track fitness goals.

Fitbit Pay is available with the new smartwatches for touchless payments. You can also upload your playlist on the smartwatches for music on the go.

The Inspire 2 smart band adds features like Active Zone Minutes in a stylish, slim design, and a brighter screen with the longest battery life of any Fitbit device at 10 days.

Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 3 and Fitbit Inspire 2 will be available for pre-order starting September 14, 2020 at major online stores.

Fitbit Sense will retail for Dhs1,399 while the Versa 3 is available for Dhs999. The Inspire 2 on the other hand will retail for Dhs399. Fitbit Premium, which offers more granular health information, is available for Dhs40 per month or Dhs330 per year.
