FEWA announces Dhs315m water projects in Ajman

Most projects are already 30 per cent finished, and expected to be completed in 2018

The Federal Electricity and Water Authority has announced that it is working on seven water development projects across the Emirate of Ajman, worth Dhs315m ($85.8m).

Quoted  in Gulf Today FEWA’s director general, Mohamed Mohamed Saleh, said that the projects include the construction of a 1,000mm water line in the Port, Al Bustan and Karama areas, which is expected to cost Dhs85m ($23m). FEWA has already completed 10 per cent of this project, which is due to be fully operational by 2018.

 

The authority has also started the implementation and construction of 800mm lines from the Water Distribution Centre in New Al Hamra to Ajman and Umm Al Quwain at a cost of Dhs135m ($36.8m).

The water network in the areas of Hamidiya, Rashidiya and Swan in Ajman are also being reconstructed at a cost of Dhs15m ($4m), with 30 per cent already completed, and the full project expected to be finished in 2019.

Furthermore, FEWA is constructing two concrete reservoirs with capacity of 10 million gallons each in the area of Heilwa in Ajman at an expected cost of Dhs40m ($10.9m). It has alrady completed 30 percent of the project. Another concrete tank with a capacity of 2 million gallons is being constructed in the Al Mazraa area at a cost of Dhs7m ($1.9m).

The director general added that the authority is also working on the reconstruction of the water network in the Zahra area at a cost of Dhs24m ($6.5m), which is also 30 per cent complete.
