Etisalat, Google Partner to Launch Tutorial Videos In UAE

UAE telecom firm Etisalat and global giant Google have jointly announced the launch of Duroosi tutorial videos, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education.

Announced on Sunday at Gitex, Duroosi is a major initiative by the telecom’s CSR arm Ayaadi Etisalat, and is expected to impact the smart education sector in the UAE.

Etisalat has already developed around 600 tutorials for all subjects that offer self-learning options with visual aids for students, under the ministry’s supervision.

Google will provide a YouTube channel for these tutorial videos and will enable learning through social media tools. The students can log into the Duroosi channel to access the videos containing extra lessons offered by teachers selected by the ministry.

“Harnessing the latest technology for education is an innovative approach towards knowledge building in the UAE,” said Saleh Al Abdooli, chief executive officer, Etisalat UAE.

“The project is also unique in that it allowed us to unite government and private players for a cause of national importance. We hope this alliance with the ministry and a private player will inspire similar strategic partnerships for knowledge development in the country.”

UAE’s minister of education Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami said that smart education is a priority for the government.

“Such strategic partnerships and unique talent development tools are critical for establishing a knowledge-based, sustainable UAE in the near future”, he said.
