Etihad Rail Freight, a unit of Etihad Rail, has signed a haulage services deal with Trojan General Contracting to provide seamless, end-to-end transportation and logistics solutions.

Etihad Rail will transport aggregates from Trojan’s quarries in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah to the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi and Dubai Industrial City, providing comprehensive logistics solutions, including first- and last-mile services via its Al Ghail Dry Port rail terminal.

The rail operator will also offer storage services for Trojan General Contracting’s products at its Al Ghail Dry Port terminal in Ras Al Khaimah, as well as at its terminals in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi and Dubai Industrial City.

“By leveraging our National Rail Network and connecting key industrial hubs, we are reducing the reliance on road transport, removing trucks from the roads, and helping in minimising the environmental footprint,” said Gunther J. Ferk, CEO of Etihad Rail Freight.

“In doing so, we provide our clients with streamlined, efficient, and reliable transportation options, reinforcing Etihad Rail Freight’s role as a key facilitator of economic growth and connectivity within the UAE.”

Since launching operations, Etihad Rail Freight has become an integral part of the UAE’s logistics sector, attracting a growing customer base that recognises the power and viability of rail transportation.

Earlier in September, Noatum Group, a subsidiary of AD Ports Group, launched its new rail logistics solution for the Middle East region.

The shuttle service, provided by Etihad Rail, aims to add significant capacity to the regional logistics network and offer customers the option of transporting large volumes of overland freight.

Noatum’s rail logistics service offers weekly departures capable of carrying up to 156 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) or 78 Forty-Foot Equivalent Units (FEUs) per direction via a single train. It plans to expand the service by increasing the number of weekly departures between Khalifa Port and Fujairah Terminals and launch new shuttle services across the broader regional rail network.
