Etihad Airways to launch service to Lisbon, Portugal in July

Planning to visit Portugal this summer? Etihad Airways is launching a direct service between Abu Dhabi and Lisbon, starting on July 2.

Expanding its European network, the carrier will link Abu Dhabi to the Portuguese capital city to coincide with the summer holiday season.

The service will comprise three weekly flights, operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: “We are excited to introduce flights to Portugal for the first time and provide our guests with convenient travel options to one of the most popular summer destinations for 2023.

“As one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, the coastal city of Lisbon is a great entry point to exploring the rest of the country, with perfect beaches, historic castles, fantastic nightlife, and warm and welcoming people. Our new direct connection will enhance the trade and tourism ties between the UAE and Portugal, and we are grateful for the support of the Portuguese authorities in establishing our new air link.”

Etihad returns to Malaga and Mykonos

Etihad Airways will also be resuming services to Málaga and the Greek island of Mykonos this summer.

Etihad Airways will be flying to Málaga twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, from June 16. One of the most visited coastal cities in Spain, Málaga is famous for its sandy beaches, culture and food.

With the addition of new routes to Lisbon, Malaga and Mykonos, Etihad Airways will be offering travellers nearly 160 weekly flights to 21 destinations in Europe this summer, with 20 percent more seats available than in 2022.

In other news, starting from October 1, the carrier will launch services connecting Abu Dhabi to Copenhagen in Denmark and Düsseldorf in Germany.

The announced flights will provide customers with travel options to and from Abu Dhabi, with four weekly flights to the Danish capital and three weekly flights to Düsseldorf. Flights will be operated using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 28 seats in business and 262 in economy.

The service to Düsseldorf is being relaunched and will become the airline’s third city in Germany after Frankfurt and Munich, both of which are currently served with daily flights.

From May 1, the carrier will increase its services to Frankfurt, Germany, adding four extra services a week to its current daily frequency.

Customers flying to or from Frankfurt with Etihad can use the airline’s Rail & Fly service to travel by train from any station on the Deutsche Bahn or SNCF network.
