Etihad Airways announced the resumption of its flights to Nairobi, Kenya, beginning December 15.
The airline will operate four weekly non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).
Lena Havia, Etihad’s vice president of Network and Scheduling, expressed gratitude to the Kenyan and UAE authorities for authorising the resumption and thanked passengers for their patience, stating, “We are pleased to resume flights between Abu Dhabi and Nairobi this winter.”

The flights, initially scheduled for May, were first postponed to June, and now December due to reasons beyond the airline’s control.
Refund and rebooking options for Etihad’s Nairobi flight
In June, Etihad informed its customers of the delay and offered several options for those who had booked tickets on or before May 31, 2024, for travel between May 3, 2024, and November 30, 2024.
These options include free rebooking for travel on or before November 30, 2024, with flexibility in dates, and the ability to change inbound or outbound dates to match the original ticket’s duration of stay. Rebooking is also permitted free of charge on selected routes between Cairo and Nairobi.
For cancellations, passengers are entitled to a full refund without penalty or administration fees.
In cases of partially unused tickets, refunds will be issued for the unused portion, including taxes, based on a prorated calculation. When rebooking, passengers are advised to update the PNR with the remark “CW002-2024 FOR NBO FLIGHT CANCELLATION.”
