Emirates to introduce premium economy to Sao Paulo and Tokyo Narita

Dubai-based carrier Emirates will introduce its premium economy cabin to two more points in its network over the coming weeks.

It will be available on its Sao Paulo route from November 19, and to Tokyo Narita from December 20.

Sao Paulo will become the airline’s fifth point in its North and South American network where flights will operate with the new cabin class.

Tokyo Narita meanwhile will become the second gateway in Emirates’ Far East network to include the premium economy seats.

With the addition of Tokyo Narita, the number of points on Emirates network offering premium economy will grow to 14.

From November 19, travellers flying between Dubai and Sao Paulo can book Emirates’ premium economy seats on EK261/262, which will initially be available thrice a week, scaling up to daily flights in December.

Emirates currently operates daily flights between Sao Paulo and Dubai. Its Brazilian operations also include a Boeing 777 service between Dubai and Rio de Janeiro, which connects travellers to Buenos Aires.

From December 20, Emirates premium economy seats will be offered on flights EK318/319 between Dubai and Tokyo Narita. Tokyo Narita is the airline’s first gateway in Japan with the premium economy cabin and follows the debut of the product in Singapore in July.

Emirates also serves its customers in Japan through its three gateways, with daily flights to Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda and Osaka Kansai.

Emirates currently flies its A380s with premium economy seats to destinations including London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Houston and San Francisco. It will also debut on Emirates’ flights to Mumbai and Bengaluru from October 29.

The airline says that since the introduction of the new cabin class a year ago, more than 160,000 customers have booked premium economy seats.
