Emirates and Viva Aerobus sealed an interline agreement to bolster connectivity for passengers travelling to and within Mexico.

The partnership will provide Emirates customers with seamless access to 21 domestic destinations in Mexico, while benefitting from a single baggage policy on a unified ticket.

The new agreement enhances international travel options, offering 20 convenient flight connections between six points in Mexico and several major American cities.

With this, travellers flying from Dubai to Mexico City can seamlessly connect to additional Mexican destinations such as Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara and Monterrey.

The interline network also facilitates direct flights from US cities like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Miami to various Mexican destinations.

Moreover, travellers from Mexico City can enjoy direct flights to Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York JFK, and San Antonio.

Emirates, Avianca new codeshare alliance to boost connectivity to Colombia

Last week, Emirates and Avianca, one of the largest Latin American carriers, signed a new codeshare partnership to enhance connectivity and convenience for travellers on select routes.

Effective from June 4 onwards, the partnership allows Emirates customers flying from the airline’s network via Madrid, Barcelona, or London Heathrow to enjoy direct flights to three destinations in Colombia — Bogotá, Medellin, and Cali — with seamless connectivity and other travel benefits.

The codeshare flights include routes from Madrid to Bogotá, Medellin or Cali; from Barcelona to Bogotá and from London Heathrow to Bogotá.

Under the new agreement, Avianca will place its code on Emirates-operated flights between Barcelona, Madrid, or London Heathrow and Dubai.

Passengers of both carriers will benefit from seamless connectivity and the convenience of booking itineraries on a single ticket, competitive fares, and a unified baggage policy checked through to the final destination.

Adnan Kazim, deputy president and chief commercial officer of Emirates, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating: “The codeshare agreement will enable us to expand our reach and allow our customers to use our services and fly to additional popular points in Colombia.”

Kazim added, “We are also pleased to offer Avianca’s customers connections through points in Spain as well as London Heathrow to and from our hub in Dubai, along with other benefits such as a single baggage policy and seamless connectivity. We look forward to developing the relationship further and introducing more added-value benefits in the future that will be felt by customers of both airlines.”

Emirates currently has commercial cooperation agreements with 161 interline, codeshare, and intermodal partners.

Most recently, the Dubai-based carrier and ITA Airways signed an MoU for the expansion of their existing interline into a full codeshare partnership.

Once activated, the codeshare will boost travel options and connection choices for customers travelling between Dubai, Italy and beyond.
