Dubai-based Emirates is the largest foreign airline for outbound and inbound international traffic to and from India.

Including its domestic carriers, Emirates ranks as India’s third-largest carrier, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) data in the South Asian country.

“India is going to be the next economic powerhouse of the world. So, we don’t see flight demand slowing down anytime soon. At least for the next five to 10 years, demand is going to do well,”  Mohammed Sarhan, vice president of Emirates for India and Nepal, told local media, official news agency WAM reported.

Operating 334 weekly flights between Dubai and India, Emirates carried 4.45 million passengers between the two destinations last year.

The Asian country also topped the list of destination countries for Dubai International (DXB) airport by passenger volume last year, with a total traffic of 9.8 million out of over 66 million received.
