Emirates IFE to launch special collection of 100 Warner Bros films

It is commemorating the centennial of the California-headquartered studio

Dubai-based carrier Emirates is launching a special collection of 100 films to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. Studios.

The capsule collection which includes classic films and documentaries will be available on its inflight entertainment system, ice, from September 1.

The newly-launched collection will feature movies from the earliest classics like Casablanca and The Wizard of Oz, through to more recent releases such as Dune and Elvis.

Furthermore, the collection will include four Max Original documentary specials chronicling the history of the movie studio.

Exploring the impact of Warner Bros. on art, commerce and culture, 100 Years of Warner Bros. tells the story of the entertainment studio by featuring insights and first-person stories from directors, actors, executives, journalists and historians.

The four documentaries trace Warner Bros. founding in the early 1920s by four brothers from an immigrant family, through decades of creative risks to the mergers of the 2000s that transformed the company into an entertainment powerhouse. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the documentaries feature interviews with the likes of Martin Scorsese, Oprah Winfrey, Clint Eastwood, Tim Burton, George Clooney, Ellen DeGeneres, Daniel Radcliffe, Keanu Reeves, Oliver Stone and Robert De Niro.

Emirates IFE’s current offering

Emirates ice already features 6,500 channels of on-demand entertainment, 45 Academy Award winning films, over 2,000 movies, 650 TV shows, and 4,000 hours of music, podcasts, and audiobooks across 40 languages.

Emirates has already invested more than $300m into on-board connectivity. A recent an update to its inflight connectivity system means that all its passengers in every class of travel can now avail of some form of free connectivity once they sign up to Emirates Skywards. Skywards members, whether Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum tier, travelling in any class, whether economy, premium economy, business or first class can avail of free app messaging.
