Home Transport Aviation Emirates Flies A380s To Kuwait At just one hour 45 minutes, the new flight will be Emirates shortest A380 route globally. by Dominic Ellis July 16, 2014 Emirates introduces scheduled A380 services to Kuwait from Wednesday, July 16, marking the airline’s 25th anniversary of flights to the country and shortest A380 flight globally. EK857 and EK858 have been upgraded to superjumbo status on the route, which the airline serves five times daily with a combination of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Flights depart Dubai 1600 and arrive 1645 local time, and the return flight departs 1825 and arrives Dubai 2110. “We would like to express our special thanks to the state of Kuwait, the aviation authorities and Kuwait International Airport for their continued support over the past 25 years and for allowing us to bring the A380 into their country,” said Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Divisional SVP, Commercial Operations, Centre. While the double-decker is primarily deployed on major hub routes, Emirates has not been afraid to operate it closer to home on high-demand sectors, such as Jeddah. But at just one hour 45 minutes, this new flight will be even shorter than the two hour 40 minute service to the western Saudi city – and should be just enough time for first class-travelling Kuwaitis to try out the on-board shower. 0 Comments
