Home Transport Aviation Emirates commences daily service to Montréal The airline’s North American network now stands at 14 destinations by Gulf Business July 5, 2023 (Image: Supplied by Emirates) Emirates has begun direct services to Montréal from Dubai, marking the airline’s first passenger flight to Québec’s culture capital. On July 5, the first EK243 flight from Dubai departed with 340 passengers, including a VIP delegation and media, at 3am. The new daily service to Montréal complements Emirates’ seven weekly services to Toronto. Montréal therefore marks the carrier’s second gateway in Canada. The airline’s North American network now stands at 14 destinations, and that number rises to 18 if you were to include the entire Americas. The new service will provide travellers to Canada connectivity via Dubai from points such as Lebanon, India, Iran, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and South Africa. Emirates will operate its three-class Boeing 777-300ER on the route, featuring eight private suites in first class, 42 lie flat seats in business and over 300 seats in economy. Last year, Air Canada and Emirates launched a codeshare partnership, with aims to provide customers with access to 46 points across North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Emirates customers can book codeshare flights to and from Canadian points beyond Toronto, including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver. Air Canada, meanwhile, places its code on routes operated by Emirates from its hub in Dubai, expanding the airline’s reach across the Indian subcontinent to destinations such as Colombo, Dhaka, Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. Starting October 28, Air Canada will introduce a new nonstop flight from its hub at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Dubai. The new route will operate four times weekly beginning October 28 onboard Air Canada’s flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. The carrier’s new Vancouver-Dubai flights will complement Air Canada’s daily service between Toronto and Dubai.
