The company, listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), said that founder Mohamed Ali Alabbar – who was serving as the chairman – will now be “devoted to the executive management matters and the day-to-day affairs of Emaar”. The decision was taken at a board meeting on December 17. Emaar Development also confirmed that Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr – head of Dubai Smart Office – has been named as the company’s vice-chairperson. The latest announcement comes after Emaar Properties took a similar step last week, naming Jamal Bin Theniyah as chairman with Alabbar taking on the role of managing director.
