Eid Al Etihad 53: Dubai Police issues strict guidelines for public safety

As the 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations approach, Dubai Police have issued a set of important guidelines for the public to follow in order to ensure a safe, orderly, and enjoyable experience for all participants, while minimising risks and disruptions.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting assistant commandant for Operations Affairs and acting head of the Event Security Committee at Dubai Police, urged residents and visitors to adhere strictly to the guidelines to support the success of the events and enhance public safety.

The celebrations are expected to draw large crowds and heavy traffic across the emirate, making compliance with these guidelines crucial to maintaining public safety and order during the festivities.

Eid Al Etihad 53: key guidelines for public safety

  • Avoid random gatherings: The public is advised to refrain from organising or participating in random marches and gatherings during the celebrations.
  • Follow traffic regulations: Strict adherence to traffic rules is emphasised to prevent accidents and ensure smooth flow. Police will be closely monitoring compliance with all traffic regulations.
  • Obey police instructions: Attendees are urged to follow directions issued by police officers, which are aimed at ensuring public safety and avoiding disruptions.
  • Ban on party sprays: The use of party sprays is strictly prohibited, whether by drivers, passengers, or pedestrians, to avoid accidents and ensure clear visibility on the roads.

Al Mazrouei also outlined specific vehicle-related guidelines, emphasising that drivers must ensure the visibility of both the front and rear license plates at all times.

The obstruction of these plates or alterations to the vehicle’s colour or tinting of the windscreen is prohibited. Furthermore, he stressed that no stickers, signs, or logos should be placed on vehicles unless they are officially approved for the occasion.

Additional vehicle regulations

Other key vehicle regulations include:

  • No obstruction of vehicle windows: It is prohibited to cover any side, front, or rear windows with stickers, or use sunshades that block visibility.
  • Prohibition on stunts and reckless driving: Performing stunts or obstructing traffic through dangerous driving or by blocking roads is strictly banned.
  • Unauthorised vehicle modifications: Drivers are prohibited from making unauthorised modifications to vehicles, such as adding unlicensed features that may create excessive noise or impair visibility.
  • Passenger restrictions: Vehicles should not exceed the allowed number of passengers, and it is prohibited to allow anyone to hang out of windows or sunroofs.

These rules align with  Decree No. 30 of 2023, which mandates vehicle impoundment for violations and can impose fines of up to Dhs50,000 for the release of impounded vehicles.

These measures aim to minimise the risk of accidents and deter any potential violators, ensuring that the celebrations are enjoyed safely by all.

Traffic and security plans

Al Mazrouei assured that Dubai Police will deploy all necessary human resources to guarantee the smooth operation of the 53rd Eid Al Etihad events.

He highlighted that traffic patrols will be strategically positioned to ensure road safety, maintain a smooth traffic flow, and prevent congestion, all while prioritising the comfort and safety of all road users during the celebrations.

The General Traffic Department of Dubai Police, in collaboration with internal and external partners, has finalised traffic scenarios and plans to facilitate smooth movement and secure the events.
