Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that that it would resume four intercity bus services beginning Thursday, May 19.

The four intercity bus routes include: E100 from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station to Abu Dhabi; E201 from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station to Al Ain; E315 from Etisalat Metro Station to Muwaileh in Sharjah; and E700 from Etihad Bus Station to Fujairah.

In addition, the RTA has said that on May 19 it will launch a new intra-city bus route too. Named F38, the new metro link service starts from Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station and will make its way to its destination of the Dubai Sports City.

Route F38 will pass via the Dubai Production City and will start at 6am and terminate at 12.30am (the following day), and will operate at a frequency of 20 minutes, according to news agency WAM.

Furthermore, the RTA will introduce changes to some existing routes. It will extend Route 50 and Route N30 to reach the International City Bus Station.

It will also improve the frequency of merging Route D03 and D03A to be Route D03 only, and extend Route 367 to pass through the School of Research Science.

“RTA cooperates with government, semi-government entities and private companies to deliver safe and sustainable public transport solutions including public buses across Dubai. Requests received from various entities in the emirate are subjected to elaborate feasibility studies and extensive field surveys before the launch of the service,” said Adel Shakeri, director of Planning and Business Development, Public Transport Agency, RTA.

Of the 461 million riders that used the RTA’s public transport, shared transport, and taxis services in Dubai last year, public buses accounted for 25 per cent of the total number of public transport commuters.

The Dubai Metro and taxis accounted for the biggest share in the number of riders using public transport, shared transport and taxis, with a share of 34 per cent for taxis, and 33 per cent for the Dubai Metro.
