Dubai’s RTA announces road closures this weekend

Parts of Sheikh Zayed road, MBR Boulevard and Happiness street will be closed on November 8

Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted motorists over expected road closures on November 8.

Parts of Sheikh Zayed Road, Mohammad bin Rashid boulevard and Happiness street will remain closed on Friday, November 8 due to Dubai’s ongoing 30×30 Fitness Challenge initiative.

“To organise the Dubai Run, there will be some road closures on Friday, November 8. Kindly check the timings and locations of the closures and the alternative roads you can take for your journeys,” a post on RTA’s official Twitter account read.

The list of road closures and their alternative routes are as follows:

Closure: Sheikh Zayed road – northbound, from 6-8am.
Alternative: Al Khail road, on the upper part of Financial Centre street.

Closure: Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, from 6-7.45am.
Alternative: Burj Khalifa street

Closure: Happiness street, from 6-8.30am
Alternative: Za’abeel II street

Closure: Financial Centre street in both directions (only lower part), from 6-8am
Alternative: Upper part of Financial Centre street

For the Dubai Run event, RTA informed fitness enthusiasts to reach the gathering point by using metro trains to the World Trade Centre metro station while arrangements of nearly 7,000 parking slots for participants around the Dubai World Trade Centre area have been made.
