Dubai carrier Emirates confirmed via a statement on its website that it had temporarily suspended flights to Hong Kong for two weeks.

“As per the latest authority directive in Hong Kong, customers holding tickets on flight EK384 with final destination to Hong Kong from January 9-22, 2021, will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin,” it said without confirming the reasons why the authorities in Hong Kong issued this directive.

EK384 departs from Dubai International Airport (DXB) daily at 3.05 am and reaches Bangkok, where it makes a stopover before proceeding to Hong Kong.

Emirates said that customers traveling to Bangkok aboard EK384 would not be affected by this decision and will still be accepted for travel.

Also, it added that while flights to Hong Kong remain suspended until January 22, customers booked to travel on flight EK385 from Hong Kong during this period will still be able to board their flights.
