Dubai’s sporting landscape is set for a significant transformation with the approval of designs for two new, state-of-the-art stadiums by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The new sporting facilities are designed to accommodate over 20,000 spectators each.

The new Shabab Al Ahli – Dubai Club stadium, which will be located in Al Ruwayyah 3, features a modern design. Its lofty circular roof is supported by columns resembling the moon. The concept aims to reflect unity and balance while incorporating eco-friendly systems and aligning with the emirate’s overall smart city vision.

The design for Al Wasl Club stadium, which will be constructed in Al Jaddaf, embodies Dubai’s unique urban identity through its innovative “city within a city” concept. This approach emphasises open spaces, fostering a vibrant atmosphere and enhancing the overall experience for fans and visitors alike.

Dubai is raising its profile as a global sporting hub

Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, applauded the initiative driving the construction of the facilities. “The project demonstrates the dynamic evolution of Dubai’s sporting sector and the emirate’s dedication to enhancing sporting achievements and widening the fan base.”

He added that the project aims to bolster the emirate’s clubs by enhancing their facilities and stadiums, thereby “supporting their development strategies and nurturing local talent”.

To ensure the successful execution of this ambitious project, a dedicated team comprising officials from relevant entities, including the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Sports Council, and the respective clubs has been established.

The team’s primary responsibility is to select a specialised construction firm committed to delivering the highest quality standards while adhering to the agreed timeframe.

The construction of the stadiums is aligned with the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to raise the emirate’s profile as a regional and global sporting hub.
