The Trump International Golf Club, Dubai will open just weeks after US President Elect Donald Trump is inaugurated on January 20, developer Damac has announced.

In a press release, the company said the 18-hole golf course, located at its Akoya master development, would open its doors in early February.

Among the facilities at the site will be a 30,000-square-foot clubhouse with four restaurants and bars, an infinity pool and fitness centre.

The F&B venues will include Manhattan Italian eatery Fifth Avenue and American family dining concept The Terrace Trump International.

There will also be the more casual Ninth Sports Café and top floor shisha lounge Assana with views across the course and a menu of Arabic tapas dishes.

News of the opening follows a press conference last week in which Trump said he turned down a $2bn proposal from Damac

“Over the weekend, I was offered $2bn to do a deal in Dubai with a very, very, very amazing man, a great, great developer from the Middle East — Hussain, Damac, a friend of mine, great guy — and was offered $2bn to do a deal in Dubai, a number of deals. And I turned it down,” Trump said.

The businessman turned politician has promised to keep a distance from the family business during his presidency and said at the same press conference that it would be run without his input by his sons Don and Eric and CFO Allen Weisselberg.

To avoid conflicts of interest and accusations of foreign interference the Trump Organization will also be limited to deals within the US.

Some critics have argued these steps do not go far enough and have demanded the business be placed in a blind trust.

Earlier in the year, Damac chairman Hussain Sajwani said he was interested in expanded business ties between the two firms, which currently include partnerships for golf courses at the Akoya and Akoya Oxygen developments.
