Dubai Properties Group has announced plans to build a new beachfront hotel in its Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) community in Dubai.

The new 160-room hotel will add to the extensive hospitality options currently available on The Walk including restaurants, entertainment and leisure facilities, the company said in a statement.

An amphitheatre will also be built on the Ground Level of The Walk at JBR along with the new beachfront hotel, the developer said without providing further details.

The entire JBR area will receive a facelift, with major upgrades planned for the landscaping of the area and retail outlets. Additional private facilities will also be created for the 40,000 residents who currently stay at The Walk, said DPG.

Khalid Al Malik, group CEO of Dubai Properties Group said: “With over 13 million visitors to The Walk last year alone, these new projects and upgrades will serve the growing demand from the tourism industry in Dubai.”

This is the developer’s second major announcement during the three-day Cityscape event. On Tuesday, DPG revealed that it is proceeding with the development of Culture Village, a creek-side destination.

The Arabic-themed development will be interconnected by 3.8 kilometres of promenade walkways, landscaped features, a retail souk and mixed-use complex overlooking the creek.

An operator will shortly be appointed to design, build and manage a centrally located marina which will accommodate up to 60 boats with mooring and access points along the promenade directly connected to Dubai Creek, the company stated.
