The Dubai Police said on Tuesday that it had issued fines to the attendees and organiser of a private home party where Covid-19 regulations were flouted.

While coordinating its efforts with Dubai Tourism, the police issued a fine of Dhs50,000 to the party organiser, and Dhs15,000 for every attendee for violation the precautionary measures including social distancing protocols.

It came a day after the police said that it had similarly issued a fine of Dhs15,000 for every participant at a desert camp where the Covid-19 regulations were ignored, and fined the camp operator Dhs50,000 too.

Among several new measures to curb the spread of the virus, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has directed pubs and bars to be closed for the remainder of February, whereas hotels will be required to operate at 70 per cent of their total capacity.

The emirate’s police encouraged the public to report any violations of Covid-19 precautionary measures via its call centre (901) or ‘Police Eye’ service.
