Home Industry Technology Dubai Municipality taps Huawei for disaster recovery data centre The Tier 2 data centre inaugurated less than three months from the start of the contract by David Ndichu October 4, 2020 Dubai Municipality has chosen the Huawei Fusion Module Data Centre Solution for its disaster recovery (DR) platform. The Tier 2 data centre was inaugurated less than three months from the start of the contract. Huawei and Dubai Municipality signed an MoU during GITEX Technology Week 2019 to partner on technology development. The DR platform will streamline and enhance data storage for the municipality, while also boosting energy efficiency as well as improve operation and maintenance (O&M) processes. Through Huawei’s data centre management software, Dubai Municipality can control data centre operations remotely via a single interface. Huawei’s solution also enables Dubai Municipality to relocate its disaster recovery data centre to any physical location in the future, without any downtime. “We are honoured to continue our partnership with the Dubai Municipality and support the ambitions of the Smart Dubai initiative as data is the most valuable asset for any institution in our increasingly connected and intelligent society,” said Jiawei Liu, CEO of Huawei UAE, said. “Working with Dubai Municipality has enabled us to implement a customised solution, using our expertise to deliver a solution that offers not only data protection but a more cost and energy-efficient end product,” he added.
