Services were temporarily halted in five stations on the Red Line

Dubai Metro services faced temporary disruptions on Wednesday due to a technical glitch, with at least five stations on the Red Line affected, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced.

The services were restored after the issue was fixed.

Services were briefly halted in five stations including Noor Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Mall of the Emirates, Sharaf DG, and Dubai Internet City.

Shuttle buses were used to transport passengers between the affected stations, the RTA earlier said on Twitter.

The Dubai Metro is currently the most popular means of public transport in the emirate, with 18.1 million using it in the first half of this year.
