Dubai International airport hit by brief power cut

The outage lasted for half an hour on Monday morning

Dubai International airport’s Terminal 3 was hit by a short power outage on Monday morning due to a technical snag, Dubai Airports said.

There were no reports of any disruption caused by the incident.

“Dubai Airports can confirm that there was a power outage at Dubai International’s Terminal 3 at 11.04am due to a technical issue,” a spokesman said.

“Power was restored within 30 minutes of the outage with minimal impact on operations.”

Temperatures quickly rose in the terminal and passengers were affected by the heat, local media reported.

Dubai International, the world’s busiest airport for international travellers, handled 89.1 million passengers in 2018.

In the first quarter of this year, passenger traffic fell 2.2 per cent year-on-year to 22.2 million, which Dubai Airports partly blamed on the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX.
