Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Police General HQ have announced an increase in the maximum speed limits on portions of Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, starting September 30.

The decision comes after a comprehensive engineering and technical study conducted by the RTA to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety.

The new speed limits align with the highest international standards outlined in the Dubai Speed Management Manual.

Here’s what will change

Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will see a speed limit increase to 100 km/h between Dubai Al Ain Road and Academic City Roundabout.

The street has also undergone significant development, including the construction of an overpass at Dubai Al Ain Road.

The stretch from Academic City Roundabout to Al Khawaneej Street will have a speed limit of 90 km/h.

Al Amardi Street will also have a standardised speed limit of 90 km/h between Al Khawaneej Street and Emirates Road.

In addition to speed limit adjustments, Al Amardi Street has been expanded, with service roads added and the roundabout at Al Khawaneej Street transformed into a signal-controlled intersection.

Changes to speed limits align with Dubai’s plans to optimise traffic flow

The RTA emphasised that the speed limit adjustments are in response to recent developments and expansions along both streets, which have increased lane capacity and upgraded intersections.

The new speed limits are expected to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion while maintaining safety standards.

The RTA will update traffic signs and road markings along the affected segments to ensure compliance with the new speed limits.
