Home UAE Dubai Dubai Chamber strengthens presence in Europe with Paris office The inauguration of the office is part of the ‘Dubai Global’ initiative, which seeks to attract new business, investment, and talent to the emirate by Gulf Business September 13, 2023 Image courtesy: Dubai International Chamber Dubai International Chamber, one of the three chambers operating under Dubai Chambers, has strengthened its presence in Europe with a new representative office in Paris, days after the chamber opened a new office in Italy. “France is one of the strategically important global markets in which we are keen to establish our presence,” said Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and CEO of Dubai Chambers. “Our network of international representative offices will play a key role in boosting Dubai’s non-oil foreign trade from Dhs1.4tn to Dhs2tn by 2026, in line with the goals of the emirate’s five-year foreign trade plan.” The inauguration of the office is part of the ‘Dubai Global’ initiative, which seeks to attract new business, investment, and talent to the emirate while enabling Dubai-based companies to expand into priority global markets. The initiative is designed to reinforce Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading commercial hubs by attracting investments, talent, and new business to the emirate while supporting the international expansion of Dubai-based companies into 30 priority markets. Dubai Chamber said 472 French companies registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce during the first seven months of 2023 alone, bringing the total number of member companies from France to 3,068. Dubai trade with France The value of non-oil bilateral trade between Dubai and France reached Dhs24.6bn in 2022, a 33.7 per cent year-on-year growth. Prominent sectors for trade between the UAE and France include aircraft and parts, machinery, precious stones and metals, perfumes and cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products. The Paris office creates new channels for economic cooperation between the two markets and will strengthen cooperation with local partners to co-organise networking events, business seminars, and business matching events. Offering easy access to over 2.2 billion consumers, Dubai serves as a gateway for businesses in France and the wider European continent looking to expand their footprints globally. Dubai Chamber expands global footprint Meanwhile, the new office is aimed at boosting trade and investment with France and takes the total number of international representative offices to 24 across five continents. Earlier in September, the Dubai International Chamber inaugurated a new international office in Milan, further strengthening the chamber’s presence in Europe following the launch of its London office in June. The office in Milan, which is the chamber’s eighth international representative office to open since the beginning of the year, will build strong relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders and deliver a comprehensive range of support to the Italian business community.
