Dubai approves Dh152m bonus for govt workers

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai has approved Dhs152m in performance-based bonuses for government workers in the emirate, according to Dubai Media Office.

Sheikh Hamdan said the bonus underscored the government’s commitment to fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and commitment among employees.

It also aligns with the emirate’s broader strategy to cultivate human capital and encourage employees to achieve the highest levels of performance.

“We have approved the distribution of Dhs152m in performance-based bonuses to exceptional employees, aligning with the Dubai Government’s strategy to cultivate human talent, foster creativity and innovation and empower individuals to implement their innovative ideas,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

“This embodies the essence of Dubai’s successful approach to administration and flexible government work, ultimately contributing to realising the objectives outlined in Dubai’s Economic Agenda, D33.”

“We take immense pride in the exceptional performance of Dubai Government employees, and we commend the dedication of our workforce in consistently striving for excellence to provide the best services to Dubai’s residents.

“We hope that this reward serves as an additional motivation for every member of the government workforce.

“Our appreciation for outstanding achievements knows no bounds, and those who leave a lasting impact in their work deserve the utmost recognition,” Sheikh Hamdan added.

The bonus reflects the Dubai Government’s commitment to acknowledging exceptional human competencies, aligning with the dynamic changes in government operations, according to the media office.

It also aims to inspire employees to engage in creativity and innovation, enhancing their ability to fulfil duties and tasks optimally.

Dubai announces New Year holiday

Meanwhile, the approval of the performance-based bonuses comes days after New Year’s Day was confirmed as a public holiday for public and private sector employees in Dubai and across the UAE. Official work will resume on January 2nd, 2024.

However, the circular issued by the Dubai Government Human Resources Department excluded bodies, departments, and institutions that have employees working in shifts, workers whose jobs are related to serving the public and jobs related to managing public service facilities.

The UAE also declared Monday, January 1, 2024, as the New Year holiday for public and private sector workers in the country, marking a three-day-long weekend from Saturday, December 30, 2023.

A circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources shows that regular work hours will resume on Tuesday 2 January.

Similarly, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation declared a public holiday on New Year’s Day for all employees in the private sector.
