The step is an implementation of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance decent living standards for Emirati citizens, Under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai’s Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs. The allocation of the land plots is implemented as per Dubai’s Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs comprehensive citizen housing plans, and supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to achieve sustainable urban development in Dubai and boost the quality of life in Dubai and its global competitiveness. The allocated plots will be fully serviced and will comprise basic and entertainment facilities and parks, which will be implemented as per the highest global standards, according to the Dubai Media Office. During its first year, the committee approved the allocation of 11,500 land plots for citizens, as well as housing loans worth Dhs7bn, benefitting around 7,000 people. Emirati citizens receive land in Al Yalayis 5 Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed issued directives in February to allocate 8,500 land plots to Emirati citizens in the Al Yalayis 5 area. The plots are located on an area spanning 120 million square feet. The allocation of land plots is part of Dubai’s national housing programme that was launched by Sheikh Mohammed, reflecting his commitment to ensuring the well-being and happiness of UAE nationals. The Al Yalayis 5 area will be developed to include 10km of green areas for walking and sports activities. Entertainment areas and other amenities reachable within 20 minutes such as grocery stores, a gym and a cycling track, will also be built over an area of 11 million square feet. UAE nationals who have received the approval of the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment are eligible to obtain land plots. Citizens can select the plot that suits their needs using the ‘Emirati’ digital platform on the Dubai Now app. Members of a family will be given priority in obtaining plot allocations in the same neighbourhood.
