Construction firm Drake & Skull’s engineering subsidiary has been awarded a DHs 123m contract for a mixed-use development in Dubai’s Jumeirah district.

Under the deal, the company will develop over 72,000 square metres of food and beverage concepts and retail outlets along with the shell and core parking facilities.

The work will include supply, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing works.

The project is due for completion by 2016.

“The project award continues our project winning trend in the UAE which includes our recent key project wins like the Dhs 395m Jewel of the Creek mixed-use development in Port Saeed, the Dhs 290m luxury mixed use development in Downtown Dubai and the Dhs 334m iconic luxury hotel and residences on The Palm Jumeirah,” said Drake & Scull Engineering managing director Ahmad Al Naser.

The company also said it would undertake more projects as part of the UAE’s infrastructure and real estate development programme in preparation for Dubai Expo 2020.

“We are optimistic about our prospects to secure more project wins across the MENA region as we further consolidate our position as a regional leader in the core engineering sector,” added Al Naser.
