Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has announced plans to enter the real estate and hospitality sectors.

On the hospitality front, it will partner with Dar Global – the international arm of Saudi developer Dar Al Arkan – to open a luxury hotel in the Maldives.

Further details of the project including the size of hotel, its amenities, architects and opening date weren’t immediately made available.

Ziad El Chaar, CEO of Dar Global, said, “We are thrilled to bring the world-renowned Made in Italy brand ambassador, Dolce & Gabbana, into the world of real estate and hospitality. Our partnership represents a unique interpretation of the brand’s Italian spirit and reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional living experiences and investment opportunities to our clients. We are confident that this partnership will be a great success, and we look forward to working with Dolce & Gabbana to bring their vision to life.”

Dar Al Arkan has operated within the real estate sector for nearly three decades. In November last year, it signed a deal with The Trump Organization to develop a Trump Resort, residential villas, a hotel, and a golf course in the Aida project in Oman.

Dar Global meanwhile focuses on developing residences catering to the second and vacation homes market in locations across the Middle East and Europe. Its portfolio includes projects in the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bosnia, the UK, and Spain. Some of Dar Global’s prominent projects include Urban Oasis tower in collaboration with Missoni, Da Vinci tower with interiors by Pagani, Les Vagues residences by Elie Saab, and the W Residences Dubai – Downtown.

Apart from Dolce & Gabbana, other Italian fashion brands have also entered into the hospitality space. Armani Hotels & Resorts have two operational properties – one in Milan and the second located within the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. A third location for the Armani hotel has already been announced and it will be located in the Diriyah giga project in Riyadh.

Versace is another prominent Italian brand that has been associated with hospitality projects. In 2015, the Palazzo Versace opened in Dubai’s Creek area.
