Development projects worth $306.5m launched in Makkah’s Kamil and Khulais

The projects relate to flood prevention, water drainage, construction of cultural centres and other areas

The emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal has reportedly launched SAR1.15bn ($306.58m) of development projects in the region’s Kamil and Khulais governorates.

The projects include 11 in Kamil relating to flood prevention, water drainage, construction of a cultural centre, renovation of city entrances, concrete pavement of roads, public gardens, playgrounds and construction of walls around cemeteries, according to Saudi Gazette.

A further 16 for projects for digging wells and four projects for the Kamil branch of Jeddah University were also launched, with total projects in the region reaching SAR788m.

In Khulais, the SAR370m of projects included public squares, district development and the renovation of city entrances.

The prince also inspected a bridge in Wadi Ghoran, souks, asphalting and payment works and plans to develop and expand the road linking the two governorates.
