DCT Abu Dhabi, Mubadala to invest Dhs50m in cultural industry

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Mubadala Foundation have signed a partnership deal to invest Dhs50m in the emirate’s cultural industry over the next five years.

The partnership seeks to transform and elevate the city’s vast cultural landscape. Mubadala Foundation has been appointed an ‘Education & Community Partner’ of DCT Abu Dhabi across the culture sector, including the Saadiyat Cultural District and other similar sites, as part of the agreement.

The collaboration presents an important commitment to foster cultural programmes and initiatives, including projects with the Louvre Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum.

It also serves as a recognition of the pivotal role played by the public sector in supporting cultural institutions and initiatives to drive their important mission forward.

“By working together alongside Louvre Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum we will promote our cultural heritage to position Abu Dhabi as an international hub for sustainable tourism and culture,” said Homaid Al Shimmari, deputy group CEO and chief corporate and human capital officer at Mubadala.

“We are committed to playing a key role in contributing to Abu Dhabi’s arts and culture ecosystem to drive impactful change locally and globally.”

The collaboration encompasses a wide range of initiatives and supports projects involving education, community outreach and engagement, youth and senior citizens, and Emiratisation.

“Our commitment to this is reinforced by the signing of this partnership with Mubadala Foundation, underscoring our promise to transform the emirate into a global centre for culture and creativity,” said Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, under-secretary of DCT Abu Dhabi.

“Through this stakeholder collaboration, we are poised to deliver unparalleled experiences to visitors from around the globe and enable the creation of a dynamic cultural ecosystem that invites exploration and engagement.”

DCT Abu Dhabi boosts tourism investments

Meanwhile, the partnership between DCT Abu Dhabi and Mubadala comes on the heels of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Travel and Tourism Week, a platform that is set to further enhance the city’s business and leisure tourism industries.

Set to become an annual fixture on the calendar, each year Abu Dhabi Travel & Tourism Week will feature a mix of flagship and exclusive, one-off events.

The platform will advance Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry across a range of sectors, such as Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) events, hospitality, destination marketing, weddings and tourism strategy.

It joins a slate of DCT Abu Dhabi acceleration programmes that are designed to boost growth, elevate experiences, and reinforce the city’s status as a global culture and tourism hub. These include MICE industry incentive schemes such as Advantage Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Culinary Programme.
