Celebrating 'Days of Culture of the UAE' in Moscow

As the heat of summer envelops Moscow, a vibrant cultural oasis has emerged in Manezh Square, right in the heart of the city.

This year, the Days of Culture of the UAE offers both citizens and tourists a unique opportunity to dive into the rich traditions and heritage of the UAE.

Citizens and tourists can take the opportunity to learn more about the country’s sights, traditional costumes and cuisine, study the technique of henna painting, take a calligraphy master class, visit a photo exhibit and enjoy a presentation of traditional crafts (thalli, mirvad).

Held from June 28 to July 2, Days of Culture of the UAE is initiated by the UAE Embassy in Russia and the Moscow Government.

The organisers set the goal of introducing Russians to the culture and heritage of the UAE people, highlighting that culture is a bridge between peoples and societies.

Visitors from the UAE are drawn to Russia’s rich culture and expansive parks and museums, featuring stunning architecture and scenic landscapes. The diverse gastronomy, which blends cuisines from various nations, has been praised by tourists for its quality and flavour.

Most often travellers from the UAE come to the capital alone (34.2 per cent) or as a couple (23.8 per cent), and regardless of the chosen format of travel, do not experience any inconvenience. For example, to help foreign visitors, names of locations are duplicated in English; transport, including the subway and buses, runs on schedule, and using an app to call a cab makes travelling even easier.

Cultural exchange between the two friendly countries has moved to a new and qualitative stage, as there is a growing influx of UAE citizens coming to Moscow for tourism purposes and to express their admiration and interest in the culture, art and history of the multinational Russian community.

Russia is home to more than 190 nationalities, and each of these groups has historically contributed to the country’s cultural diversity and richness.

Moscow is a key destination for visitors from the UAE

Moscow is considered one of the most attractive tourist destinations for tourists from the Emirates.

Since 2019, the growth rates of tourist traffic from the UAE have been steadily increasing, crossing 40,000 in 2023. Based on the growth, this trend will only continue.

Everyone is invited to Manezhnaya Square to see cultural performances, participate in master classes, be photographed against the backdrop of art objects and taste popular Arabian treats.

Moscow is an important tourist destination not only in Russia but also internationally.

In 2023, the foreign tourist flow amounted to 2.3 million people, with most visitors coming from China, India, CIS countries and the Middle East.

To strengthen international ties, Moscow also participates in major specialised exhibitions, organises business missions, and conducts projects and events aimed at foreign audiences.
