Covid-19 update: UAE reports 1,538 cases; highest daily rise since the outbreak

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 1,538 additional cases of the novel coronavirus infection on October 17, the highest daily increase since the virus was first spotted across the country.

The second highest daily spike, equalling 1,431, was recorded on October 14.

The new cases were detected as a result of 130,567 tests conducted to screen for the virus.

The health ministry also confirmed 1,411 recoveries and four additional fatalities.

The total registered infection count has now risen to 114,387, including 106,354 recoveries and 459 deaths.
