Home UAE Dubai Covid-19: Uber offers discounted rides on trips to vaccination centres in the UAE The discounted fare will be applicable for rides undertaken from January 25 – February 8 by Gulf Business January 25, 2021 Uber has said that it will offer discounted rides to people traveling to Covid-19 public vaccination centres in the UAE. Riders can avail a 25 per cent discount on two Uber rides, up to Dhs20 each, to and from these vaccination centres. The discounted fare will be applicable for rides undertaken from January 25 – February 8 to a total of 43 vaccination centres across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. These include DHA centres in Dubai, the SEHA Vaccination Centre and other select centres in Abu Dhabi, and MOHAP authorised centres in Sharjah. To claim the discounted rides, users must tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’. After selecting ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom, they must enter the code SI2021UAE. Going back to the home screen, they can enter the pick-up/drop-off location. The trip must start or end at the vaccination centers. “We applaud the government’s ambition to vaccinate 50 per cent of the community by the end of March and we would like to do our part to support these efforts. Since the onset of the pandemic, we’ve been looking at how we can support our communities, prioritise their health and safety, and ultimately keep cities moving at a time when mobility has been severely impacted,” said Rifad Mahasneh, Uber general manager in the UAE. “The vaccination drive is part of the effort to leverage our technology to positively impact communities and support the government’s successful efforts in protecting the population against the virus.” In May, Uber launched UberMedics in the UAE through which it provides healthcare workers with discounted trips to and from their workplaces in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
