The UAE reported 822 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, with the total number of infections reported in the country now standing at 30,307.

The new cases were detected after 41,000 additional tests were performed in the country. The UAE has carried out over two million tests so far, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced.

The MoHAP is increasing the scope of testing in the country with the aim of early detection of cases and isolating those who come into contact with positive cases.

The new cases, who belong to different nationalities, are all stable and receiving the necessary health care, the ministry said.

It also announced the death of three additional Covid-19 patients, taking the number of those who have succumbed to the virus to 248.

Recoveries rose by 601 to 15,657 people, MoHAP confirmed.

“We should continue to follow health practices and abide by the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” said Dr. Amna Al Shamsi, spokesperson of the UAE government. “We show our care for our families by being committed to social distancing to protect their health and ours.”

Meanwhile it was also announced late on Monday that Dubai will resume business activities from Wednesday, May 27 and remove restrictions on movement between 6am and 11pm.

The move is aimed at helping the economy recover from the impact of Covid-19, officials said.
