Covid-19: UAE reports 301 cases, 149 recoveries

The nationwide case count has risen to 744,438

The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 301 new Covid-19 cases on December 20.

The new infections were reported, after 272,115 tests were conducted to screen for the virus.

The health ministry also announced 149 recoveries in the past 24 hours, raising the total recovery count to 738,785.

MoHAP also announced one death due to Covid-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,152.

The nationwide case count has now risen to 744,438.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi has received the first global shipment of AstraZeneca’s Evusheld, long-acting antibody medication after gaining Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) from the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention.

The antibody medication arrived in Abu Dhabi on December 20 following a collaboration between Rafed, the UAE’S primary group purchasing organisation and the procurement arm of the UAE, along with Etihad Cargo, in addition to AstraZeneca, and Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).

The medication is designed to prevent severe infection and death amongst immunocompromised patients and will be in addition to the existing Covid-19 medicines already available within Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
