Covid-19: UAE reports 1,541 new cases, five deaths

The UAE reported 1,541 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 656,354.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said that the new cases were detected after it conducted 284,799 additional tests over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and receiving the necessary care.

MoHAP also announced five deaths due to Covid-19 complications, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,885.

An additional 1,497 individuals also fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 634,272.

Earlier this week, the UAE issued protocols for the Eid Al Adha celebrations to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

The NCEMA urged that gatherings should be limited to families living together and first-degree relatives.

“It is important to take the test and ensure that everyone is healthy before any visit. It is also necessary to abide by wearing masks and maintain a safe physical distance, especially when sitting with the elderly or individuals with chronic diseases,” the authority said.

“We also recommend avoiding shaking hands and hugging and the use of electronic alternatives of communication to distribute Ediya (Eid money).”
