Home GCC UAE Covid-19: UAE reports 1,506 new infections, 3 deaths The total number of recorded cases in the UAE now stands at 665,533 by Varun Godinho July 21, 2021 The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said on Wednesday that 1,506 new coronavirus cases were detected within the country over the previous 24 hours. The infected individuals are from various nationalities, and according to the health ministry are in a stable condition, receiving the necessary care. The new cases were identified as a result of 242,524 tests administered to screen for the virus. The Ministry added that it was expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection as part of an intensified testing campaign. Simultaneously, an additional 1,484 individuals also fully recovered from the infection, bringing the total number of recoveries to 643,234. The UAE recently issued a set of precautionary guidelines ahead of the Eid holidays. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) urged that gatherings should be limited to families living together and first-degree relatives. Read: Covid-19: UAE issues Eid Al Adha protocols to avoid hike in cases during the holidays According to recent studies conducted by the health sector, it is evident that there is a “significant” increase in the number of infections and deaths after such occasions, said Dr Farida Al Hosani, spokeswoman of the Health Sector. After Eid Al-Adha last year, the average daily ratio of Covid-19 infections amounted to more than 1,400 cases, equivalent to an increase of over 500 per cent, she said.
