The Kuwait Embassy in the UK has advised its citizens to return home as a result of surge in Omicron cases in the UK.

The Embassy also called on citizens to adhere to the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry’s recommendations to postpone travel to the UK due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.

More than 137,000 new Covid cases were reported for England and Wales (figures for Scotland and Northern Ireland weren’t reported as a result of the new year weekend) on Sunday, January 2.

The figures for England and Wales showed that there were another 73 deaths within 28 days of a positive test. Also, in England there were 13,151 patients in hospital, up from 12,615 the day before.

Kuwait embassies in other European countries including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain have also reportedly issued similar advisories to its citizens to leave and return to Kuwait in the wake of rising number of Covid-19 infections in those countries.
