Inspection teams from the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Dubai Economy, alongside Dubai Municipality, said on Sunday that it had fined three sports establishments, warned three more, and ordered another to shut down for their failure to adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols.

The fines were issued at establishments where mandatory physical distancing rule was being evaded, while some of those present were flouting the face mask rule.

Three other establishments were warned to ensure that they take the necessary steps to comply with the all the guidelines.

A fitness centre in the emirate was also ordered to shut down due to repeated violations.

The DSC has urged all clubs, academies, and sports and training centres in Dubai not to relax their safety measures which have been drawn up by the emirate’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

All sports facilities have been instructed to maintain strict hygiene and sanitisation standards, implement a regular cleaning regime, and ensure that the two metre safe distancing rule is observed at all times.

They also have to ensure that staff and all visitors wear masks, and must ensure that they check the temperatures of all those present as well, besides making sanitisers readily available.

Public announcements and awareness signages reinforcing these safety measures must be displayed in prominent areas within the establishments.

Adequate records of the members, including names, telephone numbers and dates of visits, must also be maintained to help the authorities with contact tracing.
