The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) said on Tuesday, November 3, that students enrolled in private schools, across all grades, would resume campus learning starting January 2021.

The emirate’s education authority added that it would coordinate with these schools and help them in implementing necessary precautionary measures to protect students and staff from the virus.

In September, ADEK said that all students in Abu Dhabi studying in grade 6 and above would have 100 per cent distance learning as their medium of instruction.

An exception was made though for students in grades 9 to 12 who were given the option of attending face-to-face classes if they require to take international exams to qualify for entrances into universities.

As per the current precautionary measures, teachers and administrative staff undergo a Covid-19 test once every two weeks.

The testing of the staff, which began at the start of the academic year in August, required staff to be tested every 12th or 14th day.

At the beginning of  the current academic year, the UAE’s Minister of Education, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi outlined a hybrid policy of education that permitted distance learning for students in the country until the end of 2020.
