COVID CASES AUGUST 11

Authorities in Abu Dhabi have opened two dedicated Covid-19 vaccination centres exclusively for students and staff of educational institutions where the jabs are available on a walk-in basis.

The centres will be open for them from August 17 – October 31 at the Mina Zayed Vaccination Center and the Al Ain Convention Center daily from 8am-8pm.

Those eligible will be offered a choice of either Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinopharm vaccines at these centres, including first, second and booster doses wherever applicable.

Students below the age of 18 must be accompanied by one guardian only.

Students who are residents must carry their Emirates ID, student ID and show their Alhosn app. For newcomer students who have not yet completed their residency formalities, they should carry their passport, entry permit showing UID, Alhosn app, and proof of enrollment in an educational institution.

For educators who are residents, they must carry their Emirates ID, Alhosn app, and employee ID. For new arrivals to the emirate, they must carry their passport, entry permit, Alhosn app and proof of employment.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre and SEHA.

Starting August 20, students aged 16 and above as well as staff must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to be allowed entry to schools in Abu Dhabi.

Students and school staff with vaccination exemptions can enter school premises provided the exemption is verified on the Alhosn app or through an official letter from a Department of Health-Abu Dhabi authorised vaccination provider such as SEHA or Mubadala Health.

Students who will turn 16 after schools reopen and who wish to continue face-to-face learning in school, must receive a first dose of a UAE-approved vaccine within four weeks of their birthday, with a confirmation of it displayed on their Alhosn app.
