Coldplay fever grips UAE as band announces fourth Abu Dhabi gig

British rock band Coldplay has added a fourth Abu Dhabi concert to their Music of the Spheres World Tour owing to overwhelming demand.

The new show is set for January 9, 2025, at Zayed Sports City Stadium, said organisers Live Nation Middle East on Friday.

The Music of the Spheres tour, which launched in March 2022, promotes the band’s ninth and tenth studio albums, Music of the Spheres (2021) and Moon Music (2024). The tour is Coldplay’s return to live performances after the COVID-19 pandemic and has already garnered over $1bn, making it the highest-grossing tour in history.

The band has broken records at venues worldwide, praised for their high-energy performances and sustainability efforts.

Fans can expect a dazzling show, complete with pyrotechnics, confetti, and Coldplay’s signature light-up wristbands. The band has also taken steps to minimise the environmental impact of their tour, including creating the first mobile rechargeable show battery in partnership with BMW and planting a tree for every ticket sold.

This has earned Coldplay recognition as one of the leading climate action advocates in the music industry.

The new concert date follows the rapid sellout of Coldplay’s original shows on January 11, 12, and 14 in Abu Dhabi. Tickets for the additional performance are available now at www.livenation.me.

The last time that Coldplay toured the UAE was back in 2009 when they made their Middle East debut at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. They also performed at a New Year’s Even concert in 2011 at the Volvo Ocean Race in Abu Dhabi that year.
