The cuts amount to less than 2 per cent of Autodesk’s global workforce, a company spokeswoman said. They are the product of aligning resources to pursue key priorities this fiscal year and not a result of over-hiring or cost-cutting, and Autodesk continues to add workers “across the company for many key positions,” she said. California-based Autodesk employed 12,600 people globally as of January 2022. Company shares increased 22 per cent since the start of 2023, making up some of the 33 per cent drop over the course of the prior year. It is the latest technology firm to execute a headcount reduction, following the likes of Okta, Workday, Splunk and earlier in the week.
